Whether you don’t want to put much effort into preparing a meal or just don’t have time, making ramen in the microwave is a terrific last-minute lunch or supper option. But, because this dish is so wonderful, you don’t have to limit it to the nights when you don’t want to or have time to prepare.
To avoid any broth bubbling over and creating a mess in your microwave, you may prepare this simple ramen dish in a big cup or a bowl that is microwave-safe. Although I may like to make this ramen in a cup so I can touch the handle and feel toasty and fuzzy, a bowl works particularly well in this situation for bigger portions.

Ingredients For Easy Microwave Ramen Recipe
With the exception of your dependable microwave oven, you only need two simple items to make microwave ramen. These are available online and at almost every grocery store:
Ramen noodle soup on the go
Any ramen or ramen noodle soup brand will do. Any instant noodle brand would do; however, we typically choose Maruchan or Top Ramen.
You may also use vegetable, meat, or chicken broth in place of water. When I prepare soup or a stir-fry with ramen, I like to utilize broth.
To cook the ramen in the microwave, you will need a bowl. When the bowl becomes hot, I also advise using hot mitts, oven mitts, or pot holders to keep your hands safe.
- Instant Ramen Noodles
- Shredded Carrots
- Edamame, shelled
- Bean Sprouts
- Soft or Boiled Egg
- Soy Sauce
THE BEST MICROWAVE RAMEN NOODLES
Ramen noodles in an instant are among the cupboard essentials. They are quick and simple to create, and they don’t require a lot of ingredients to taste fantastic.
And although making them with boiling water on the stovetop is simple, making them in the microwave is much simpler! As I previously stated, you can prepare this microwave ramen in less than 5 minutes.
Also, creating these quick ramen noodles couldn’t be much easier. Honestly, all you have to do is press a couple microwave buttons.
Essentially, this quick ramen recipe will save your life if you’re in college, especially if you’re living in the dormitories, and you don’t have access to a stove.

HOW TO COOK RAMEN IN THE MICROWAVE
You can prepare this microwave ramen in little more than 5 minutes, as I’ve already explained a few times. It’s also without a doubt one of the simplest instant ramen recipes ever, in my opinion.
Having said that, let’s get started learning how to make microwave ramen and quit wasting time!
STEP 1: PREP THE NOODLES
You should gently separate the instant ramen noodles first. It will be simpler to combine everything afterwards and immerse them in the water as a result.
Put the dried ramen noodles in a dish that can be used in a microwave and is large enough to accommodate all of the noodles and deep enough to completely submerge the noodles in water. But, you may omit this step and just use the cup that the instant ramen noodles come in if you get any that do.
STEP 2: COOK THE RAMEN
Then, add just enough water to the dish to cover the broken noodles—generally, a cup or so will suffice.
The noodles should now be microwaved for 1 minute, stirred, and then for 1 more minute. Following that second minute of cooking, you should check on the ramen noodles to see how they’re coming along.
By the way, you may cook the ramen noodles for an extra 30 to 60 seconds, or until they are cooked to your preferred level of doneness if you want yours to be more well done.
STEP 3: ADD THE FLAVOR PACKET
After the ramen in the microwave has reached the desired doneness, carefully remove the bowl from the microwave.
After that, you should add the seasoning package to the ramen and thoroughly toss the noodles to incorporate the spice.
Serve hot and enjoy, then!
HOW TO MODIFY YOUR RAMEN NOODLES
The instant ramen generally gets a considerable amount of flavor from the spice package. Here are some of my favorite modifications, though, if you want to go the extra mile and make your ramen noodles taste even better, as in this Kylie Jenner ramen:
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil should be added.
- Sesame seeds and green onion dice can be used as a garnish.
- Replace water with beef, chicken, or vegetable broth (or better yet, add additional liquid for ramen noodle soup).
- Some of these sugar snap peas should be included.
- Add a soft-boiled egg to the ramen.
- To make the ramen dish more spicy, top it with hot sauce, sriracha, or hoisin sauce.
- Garlic powder and parmesan cheese should also be added.
HOW TO STORE AND REHEAT COOKED RAMEN
Thus, this microwave ramen recipe yields one serving. But you can always quickly prepare more if you’re still hungry!
But if you can’t finish your ramen, you can put the leftovers in a container that can be sealed and keep them in the refrigerator for approximately two days.
When you’re ready to consume the ramen once more, simply reheat it in the microwave. When I heat up my leftover instant ramen, I just put it in a dish that can be heated in the microwave and cook it for 20 seconds at a time, stirring in between.
I advise adding a little water, chicken broth, beef broth, or vegetable when you reheat the ramen to prevent it from being dry.

Q: How much water do I need for microwave ramen?
A: You will need to add two cups of cold water for every package of dry ramen noodles.
Q: How long should I cook ramen in the microwave?
A: Cook the noodles and broth on high power (1000W) for 3 minutes, then add seasoning packet contents, stir well and cook an additional minute before letting stand 1-2 minutes before serving.
Q: Can I use hot or boiling water instead of cold?
A: For best results it is recommended to use cold or room temperature water when cooking ramen noodles in the microwave. Boiling water may overcook the noodles and make them too soft.
Q: How do I know when my ramen is done?
A: The noodles should be tender but still firm, and the broth should be thickened. If not cooked enough, let stand for 1-2 minutes longer before serving. If it appears to be overdone, add a few tablespoons of cold water to thin out the broth.
