Chicken should be placed on a chopping board or baking sheet and dried with paper towels. Place aside. Fill a large Ziploc storage bag with the shake and bake coating or homemade coating.

Next, gently brush mayonnaise on both sides of boneless chicken breasts to help the coating stick to the meat.

Put the chicken and spices in the bag. Shake the chicken in the coating mixture until every piece is thoroughly covered and no dry areas are visible, then seal the bag or fold the top over.

Spray the air fryer basket gently with a nonstick cooking spray, line it with parchment paper made specifically for air fryers, or use a perforated silicone mat to prepare it.

Depending on the thickness, place each piece of chicken in the basket in a single layer and air fry for 15–18 minutes at 380 degrees F.

To check whether chicken is fully cooked, use a meat thermometer. A chicken breast should be cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F. Additional cooking time will be needed for chicken breasts that are thicker.

Prior to serving, let the chicken rest for a few minutes to rest.

Can I use chicken tenders, chicken drumsticks, chicken thighs or chicken wings?

The coating, whether handmade or from a packet, will taste delicious on all of these varieties of chicken. Everything depends on the chicken you choose. Cooking times will vary since these various chicken parts are all smaller than a chicken breast.

How should I keep leftovers?

For up to three months, you may keep leftover chicken in your freezer in an airtight gallon freezer bag or container. Place for 3–4 days if refrigerating in a standard storage bag or a container with a tight closure. Don’t forget to let food cool fully before storing it.
